Dr. Gillman will review your personal health information and medical history. Previous injuries, nutritional/lifestyle issues, ergonomic factors, and current sports/exercise issues will be reviewed.
Examination will include some familiar medical tests, such as taking your blood pressure, listening with a stethoscope, and checking your reflexes. Neurologic tests, orthopedic joint maneuvers and functional joint tests are performed. Dr. Gillman will test the strength of several muscles to uncover any weakness. The variety of muscles that get strength tested can depend on one's sports or activities, or the condition for which they are having a problem. If additional tests are required, such as MRI or x-rays, Dr. Gillman will order it. He may also consult with other doctors or make referrals to other providers that can best help you. If you are safe to treat, and most people are, then a program of care will be prescribed. Most patients with common painful conditions find notable relief within about six treatment sessions. Vehicle-crash victims, those with injuries that cause a lot of tissue damage, or more severe/chronic cases often require longer or more intensive care. Treatment of spine and extremity conditions usually involves chiropractic joint adjustments/manipulation along with one or more physiotherapy procedures such as ultrasound, low level laser, Kinesiotape, or soft tissue methods including Graston Technique or Myofascial Release. See examples of services here. Dr. Gillman is expert in addressing musculoskeletal spine, extremity, and sports medicine issues. Spine pain as well as shoulder problems, knee or ankle problems, and other extremity conditions are easily addressed. If you have health questions, email Dr. Gillman at: scott@drgillman.com.
